Arsenal had made enquiries about Leicester City defender Harry Maguire during the January transfer and now it seems that the Gunners have fallen down the pecking order to land the English International.
Arsene Wenger was willing to offer £40 million for Maguire at the start of the new year but Leicester City were adamant not to let him leave for anything less than £50 million.
And now the Daily Star reports that Manchester United are in pole position to land the 25-year-old.
The news states that Jose Mourinho wants to bring the defender onboard during the summer transfer window and the Portuguese manager has received the green signal from the United hierarchy.
Foxes manager Claude Puel has claimed that he has no intentions of selling Harry Maguire at the end of the season but with interest from a number of Premier League clubs, the Leicester management might just find it wise to cash in on the English International.
Arsenal still hold an interest in the player and will most certainly give it one more go once the 2017-18 season comes to a close but whether Arsene Wenger will spend £50 million on a rather average player remains to be seen.
Another big concern for both Manchester United and Arsenal is the fact that Harry Maguire is a part of the English squad that will be travelling to Russia this summer.
And if the defender can leave his mark on the tournament then surely Leicester will waste no time in increasing his price tag.
Harry Maguire joined Leicester City from Hull in the summer of 2017 on a five-year contract for an initial £12 million fee and since then the defender has played 37 games in all competitions for the Foxes.
