Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger announced on Friday that he will be stepping down from his position at the end of the season after serving the club for 22 years. And now everyone is busy making guesses as to who the next Gunners manager will be.

A long list of possible candidates have emerged during the past couple of months and one name that ranks pretty high is that of former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti was sacked by Bayern Munich towards the end of last year and since then the Italian has been without a job. This has led many people to believe that Ancelotti was after the Arsenal job and was waiting for Arsene Wenger to step down with dignity.

Now that the Frenchman has done that, Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that a move to Arsenal is not out of the cards.

“I can say I would like to work again, but that depends on me. If I find the right possibility, the right project I would be delighted to continue,” Ancelotti said when asked if he would be the next Arsenal boss.

“It’s a great decision, but I think it’s the decision Mr Wenger [made] with a lot of respect for the club and also I think the club have shown a lot of respect.

“That is right – Wenger did a fantastic job, and is doing a fantastic job with Arsenal because he is in the semi-final of the Europa League. Great respect and great honour to Arsene.”

A few reports in England have claimed that the Emirates management have already made an agreement with Carlo Ancelotti and they were just waiting for Arsene Wenger to make his decision public.

On the other hand, though a few publications have claimed that former Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel is the likeliest man to replace Arsene Wenger at the helm. So much so that the German coach even gave up a managerial opportunity at Bayern Munich in order to move to London.
