Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has claimed that he wished to turn the club into a trophy-winning machine and it seems the new found fame for the club has already caught the eye of a lot of former players.
Former City attacking midfielder Rony Lopes has claimed that he can still return back to the Etihad despite having a wonderful campaign with Ligue 1 side AS Monaco.
In an interview with Omnisport, Lopes said: “I return to Manchester every time I can. My mother and brother still live there, so the connection is close,
“I had a great time at the club and managed to graduate at the Etihad, but my present is in Monaco. They invested and believed a lot in me, so my intention is to give back and win titles here.
“About the future… the future belongs to God.
“I have many friends in Manchester City so that I’m always up to date with the club. Great memories. And I also developed a connection with City fans, I see myself as one of them and they keep on cheering and supporting me wherever I go. It’s a great feeling.”
Rony Lopes has played 45 games for AS Monaco in all competitions scoring 15 goals.
Out of these 15 goals, the 22-year-old has scored 13 in the Ligue 1 meaning he is just behind Radamel Falcao(18) who is the top goalscorer for the club this season.
AS Monaco had to sell a large chunk of their first team players during the previous summer window and that had created a void in the starting XI.
And Rony Lopes has taken the absence of Kylian Mbappe with both hands.
