Manchester City defender John Stones has endured a tough second half of the season and now rumours are ripe that the English International might be sold off.
Stones joined Man City two years back from Everton for a transfer fee of £47.5 million and he was an influential figure in the first half of Guardiola’s maiden title-winning campaign.
But constant injuries have cut short his playing minutes and now reports are claiming that the 23-year-old might be sold off at the end of the season – in order to accumulate cash.
Stones suffered a hamstring injury in November and since then he has been in and out of the first team setup.
Since then the centre-back has suffered from a series of knee and concussion problems which has further hampered his progress.
Now John Stones is sidelined with an abductor strain.
And when Pep Guardiola went on to sign Aymeric Laporte in January many felt that this was the end of John Stones’ career at the Etihad.
But according to a report in the Independent, Manchester City have no intentions of selling John Stones.
Pep Guardiola considers the 23-year-old an important asset of his squad and the Spanish manager will not risk losing him at the end of the season.
Guardiola recently said: “Hopefully he can play the last games and get to the World Cup. I think he will be fine.”
John Stones has played 23 games for Manchester City in all competitions this season, scoring 3 goals.
