Manchester United have been outclassed by their neighbours Manchester City in almost every department and it is no secret that Jose Mourinho’s men have a lot of catching up to do.

And the bridge between both the clubs could have only be shortened with Mourinho making a couple of big money signings during the summer transfer window.

But the Portuguese coach has revealed his plans for the end of the season and we can’t help but frown.

According to a report by ESPN FC, the United boss will not be making big-name signings during the summer.

Instead, he will try and improve on what he already has and claw down the difference between his side and Man City’s.

The 55-year-old said: “We are going to invest the basic to improve our squad,

“We are going again to touch our squad and believe that more than spend, spend, spend, is probably the evolution of our players.

“We have some young players that need to get, with both hands, opportunities with their evolution, so let’s see.”

The report also states that Jose’s biggest priority this summer transfer window will be to bring in a central midfielder who will replace Michael Carrick in that position.

As per Mourinho a lot of players might not be coming in but surely a few players from his current lot will be sold at the end of the season.

“There is always in the group of players, in the squad, there is always a player or a couple of players who are not playing a lot, and they will obviously try to leave,” Mourinho added.
