Arsenal take on Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday and the Gunners will travel to Manchester without a whole lot of confidence after drawing their Europa League game against Atletico Madrid 1-1 despite having a man advantage for nearly 80 minutes.

However, the Gunners are set to receive a huge injury boost before they take on Manchester United away from home.

According to Arsene Wenger, midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has made a surprise recovery and is well in line to face his old club on Sunday.

Mkhitaryan picked up a knee injury against CSKA Moscow at the start of April and reports had claimed that the Armenian could very well miss the rest of the season.

But speaking beINSPORTS on Thursday Mkhitaryan claimed that he could be fit enough to take on his former club.

And Arsene Wenger also confirmed after the Atletico Madrid match that the playmaker is in contention for a place in the starting line up.

Wenger said: “He has a chance. If he’s ready I’ll play him.”

Arsenal are currently 11 points adrift the fourth spot on the league table and winning the Europa League is their best bet for getting back into the Champions League next season.

As a result of this, many people are expecting Arsene Wenger to rest a number of first-team players on Sunday but the manager has indicated that he might not field a second-string side against Manchester United.

“I don’t know yet [whether I will rest players]. Maybe it’s better to play. I will have to see how everybody responds.” Wenger added
