West Ham United are planning to sign former Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra on a loan deal until the end of the season – as per reports.

Evra was released by Ligue 1 side Marseille in November after the French International kicked out at a spectator. But it seems that the former United left-back could very well be in line to return back to the Premier League.

According to Times correspondent Paul Joyce, the Hammers are trying to sign Evra – who is currently a free agent, on a loan deal until the end of the season.

David Moyes’ biggest worry was the fact that the club was unable to bring in a defender during the January transfer window and a few reports had earlier claimed that the management is trying to sign some free agents in order to do a patch up work until the end of the campaign.

A big plus for the Hammer will be the fact that Patrice Evra has already worked under David Moyes when the latter was managing Manchester United.
