Sweden vs England
Sven Goran Eriksson

England are set to take on Sweden in the quarterfinal of the 2018 FIFA World Cup and while most pundits think that the Three Lions have a very good chance of reaching the semi-finals, a few people beg to differ.

Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has claimed that Sweden have what it takes to stage an upset and progress to the semi-finals of the World Cup.

The general notion this year is that England are playing better than they have since a long time and Harry Kane and co have what it takes to end the country’s World Cup drought.

But Eriksson who coached England for five years from 2001 until 2006 feels that the Three Lions will struggle against the Swedes.

Eriksson said“England will struggle to score against Sweden,

“I believe it will be a Swedish win. And as a Swede, my hopes are with Sweden.

“Given how they are playing now I believe they [Sweden] can go all the way,

“I have yet to decide [whether to attend the game], but I might go. It will be a fantastic World Cup quarter-final, a tough and hard fight between Sweden and England.”

Eriksson might have been the manager of England for a good 5 years but at the end of the day, he is a Swede. And now it seems that the former England and Man City boss has revealed when his allegiance lies.

England will take on Sweden on Saturday afternoon and it seems that Gareth Southgate will be without the services of striker Jamie Vardy who suffered a groin injury during the victory against Colombia.
