4-2-3-1 Manchester United Lineup Vs Watford: Mkhitaryan To Return To The Starting XI?

Manchester United have entered a busy week and after the fortunate 1-0 win against Brighton at home on Saturday, Mourinho’s men hit the road in order to take on Marco Silva’s Watford.

Next weekend Manchester United take on Arsenal in a high profile game and logic suggests that any manager would want to give his best players a bit of a rest before such a crunch match. But unfortunately, Mourinho cannot afford that luxury. The Red Devils are already eight points behind leaders Manchester City and just cannot afford falling further behind. Hence we presume that the Portuguese will field a very strong first XI at Vicarage Road.

Here’s the Manchester United lineup that might face Watford on Tuesday evening:

GOALKEEPER:

David De Gea will have the goalkeeping duties on Tuesday.

DEFENCE:

Both Eric Bailly and Phil Jones are set to miss the clash against Watford due to injuries and Victor Lindelof will get another chance to showcase his talent alongside Chris Smalling in central defence. Valencia has absolutely no competition in the right-back role but Ashley Young might just be rested for this game after a fine performance during the weekend – Daley Blind is hopefully going to slot into the left-back role.

Blind – Smalling – Lindelof – Valencia

MIDFIELDER:

Paul Pogba played out the full 90 minutes on Saturday against Brighton and this is definitely a sign that the French midfielder is back to full fitness. He will definitely be one part of the central midfield partnership alongside Nemanja Matic.

Juan Mata will most certainly be given a rest for the Tuesday night game and Henrikh Mkhitaryan will take up his place in the attacking midfield position. The Armenian has dropped down the pecking order during the past couple of weeks and has a lot to prove to his manager.

Matic – Pogba – Mkhitaryan

ATTACK:

Jose Mourinho recently described Romelu Lukaku as untouchable in his first-team lineup and the summer buy will lead the line in attack. The Belgian powerhouse will be assisted by Martial and Marcus Rashford on either flank.

Martial – Lukaku – Rashford
