Southampton time and again have said that their defender Virgil Van Dijk is not up for sale and new boss Mauricio Pellegrino has also mirrored the exact same words uttered by the Saints management. But Van Dijk is desperate to force a move out of the club before the transfer window comes to a close.

As soon as the previous season came to an end Liverpool jumped into the transfer market in order to grab the services of Van Dijk and everyone thought that the Dutchman was going to be the first player to sign for the Reds in the summer. But then the Saints claimed that Liverpool were using unfair means in order to sign Van Dijk. This prompted Liverpool to release a statement claiming that they had withdrawn interest from the player and will not be trying to sign him in the summer. But then the Dutchman himself wanted to leave the Saints and Liverpool once again got back into the chase.

And ever since then Van Dijk has been trying whole heartily to join Liverpool but the deal as of now looks to be stuck in muddy waters. And Van Dijk is fearing that such a long lay off will force Jurgen Klopp to shift his focus to another target.  So it is being reported that the centre-back is going to hold talks with the Southampton authorities in order to convince them to sell him off.

Liverpool have shown an interest in signing the player ever since the previous season came to an end but now with the transfer window coming to a close Van Dijk is fearing that Klopp will look for other options in the market. The Saints have valued the 26-year-old at £60 million but that is not a primary cause of concern for the Reds. Rather the stubbornness of Southampton is the reason why Van Dijk is yet to make a shift to Anfield.
