According to Bruno Satin – the agent of Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, his client turned down a move to the Premier League Champions Chelsea because he wanted to stay in Italy and with a Serie A title with his current club.

It is not a secret that Napoli turned down a bit from Antonio Conte’s side early on in the summer as the team were not interested in selling the defender. Now as per a report, the 26-year-old’s agent has gone on to say that the player was determined to win the Italian league with Napoli, hence he decided to stay back.

Satin said, “The Scudetto pact? Kalidou stayed because he has a strong contract and he knows that with these teammates and this staff they can have important ambitions and try to win the Scudetto.”

It is believed that Koulibaly was Conte’s first choice during the summer and once the Blues failed to secure his services that is when they moved to sign Antonio Rudiger from AS Roma. But news has it that the Chelsea boss is still on the lookout for another centre-back next summer and he is keenly monitoring Koulibaly along with the likes of Virgil Van Dijk.
