Alexis Sanchez – A ticking time bomb at Arsenal

It almost seemed certain. Arsenal’s #7 clearly had had enough after he was seen sulking on the pitch following Salah’s goal. His trademark crouch was on full display, leaving Arsenal with a greater concern than their 4-0 drubbing.

Much was expected from Sanchez’s return to first team action after he was out for most of pre-season. His inclusion in the starting XI raised the spirits of even the most pessimistic of Gooners.

We can’t really blame Sanchez though. That Arsenal performance was one of the worst team performances in recent years. It’s tough to recollect the last time a team just failed to show up on a football pitch.

After being substituted in the 62nd minute, Sanchez jogged off expressionless. It left fans fearing the worst, did they see the last of the Chilean in an Arsenal jersey?

Alexis Sanchez epitomizes hard work and dedication. You can expect him to give his 100% every time he sets foot on the football pitch. With such a rigid work ethic, the hunger for success comes naturally and Alexis is no different. He loathes mediocrity and always wants to end up on the winning side. His winning mentality was the driving force in most of Arsenal’s victories of late.

Sanchez has been in the form of his life at the Emirates. His tally of 72 goals from 145 games, averaging a goal every second game is commendable.

Arsenal’s performance last season was dismal, though they did win the FA Cup. They missed out on the Champions League, for the first time in 20 years.
After seeing very few transfers into the club, the defeat to Liverpool was the last straw for Alexis, or so it seemed.

Reports have come in recent light, stating that Manchester City tabled a deal for Alexis Sanchez on deadline day, which was accepted by the club and the player. Arsenal however, were preparing a deal for Lemar as a replacement for the Chilean and would sanction Alexis’ move once they received confirmation. But in a surprising turn of events, the Lemar deal fell through and Sanchez remains an Arsenal player.

Manchester City have reportedly begun legal proceedings over Arsenal for their handling of the entire saga. Without doubt, Sanchez would the one who’s worse off from the situation.  It can be completely demoralizing for any player to have to adjust with a decision that wasn’t theirs.

Questions will be asked whether or not Alexis still turns up with the same passion as he always does.

His attitude will be in question, will he put in his shift every time he takes to the football pitch?

Most importantly, how much of an impact would this have on the Arsenal dressing room, who aren’t exactly in a good phase at the moment.

Is Alexis a time bomb just waiting to go off? Let’s wait and watch!
