Last season the Blues won the title in emphatic fashion but the Italian repeatedly stressed on the fact that he needed reinforcements in order to defend his title. Antonio Conte believes that his team’s biggest problem is the fact that they are unable to close down a game when it is required.

And come the new season this small crack is widening as we speak. Chelsea were cruising against Leicester City by 2-0 over the weekend and then Jamie Vardy pulled one back for the Foxes. And as soon as Shakespeare’s team converted from the penalty spot a panic struck the Blues.

Even though Chelsea saw the game out without any more damage, but Conte feels that his team are bad at managing games. Hence he brought on his attacking substitutes as soon as the scoreline went to 2-1. And Conte feels that this season his team will have to push for the whole 90 minutes if they are to churn out results.

Conte said, “Our style of football is always like this, to push from the start to the end,

“We are not good at managing a game and for this reason I prefer to continue to press. Against Leicester it was the same.”

Antonio Conte might have successfully the flaw in his team but other than pushing hard for the whole match, is there any other solution to this problem? The tactic that Conte wants to employ might be very effective but it is also tiresome. This way of closing down games requires every player to be 100 percent alert throughout the match which is perhaps the most difficult thing to do.
