Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is currently in the market searching for a new defender and he looks to have set his eyes on Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld.

Alderweireld joined Spurs back in 2015 and since then the Belgium International has established himself as one of the most competent defenders in the Spurs squad. Alderweireld has made over 100 appearances for Pochettino’s side in these past two seasons but now it looks as if the 28-year-old has grown frustrated with life at White Hart Lane.

Alderweireld currently receives £49,000 per week in the form of wages from Spurs. But the Belgian feels that he is worth much more than that. He has asked the Spurs management to double his pay but so far Daniel Levy has refused to agree to the demands.

And as per the latest news, Chelsea are trying to take advantage of this situation and are ready to offer Alderweireld his demanded pay scale.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has said that he wishes to sign atleast four more players before the transfer window closes down. And Toby Alderweireld might just be the first player to arrive at Stamford Bridge.

But having said that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will be reluctant not to sell off a star player to a direct rival, and this also includes Manchester City who had earlier shown an interest in signing the Belgian. Alderweireld is also wanted by Italian giants Inter Milan if some sources are to be believed.
