Lyon president has confirmed that Arsenal have made a bid for Alexandre Lacazette.

Both Arsenal and Arsene Wenger have been long admirers of the 26-year-old forward. Wenger had also tried to sign the Lyon man last year. But his bid for £30 million had been rejected.

This year Lacazette was slated to join Spanish side Atletico Madrid. But the transfer ban on the Spanish side has halted proceedings. So now if Lacazette wants to join Diego SImeone’s side he will have to wait for another six months. Meanwhile Arsenal have put this situation to their advantage and launched a bid to in order to sign the player.

The 26-year-old has 11 international caps for France.

Arsene Wenger is desparately trying to sign Lacazette as an alternative for the outgoing Alexis Sanchez. But it might prove very difficult for Wenger given the fact that he has no Champions League football to offer. But reports suggest that the Gunners manager might include Olivier Giroud in the transfer inorder to sign Lacazette.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has said that Lacazette was always supposed to leave the club in the summer. But the deal with Atletico did not quite work out. And now they have received a very nice offer from Arsenal.

But having praised Arsenal for their ‘nice offer’ Aulas also made it very clear that they are not willing to let go of their player.
