Ever since the Premier League season ended, Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez has been heavily linked with a move out of the Emirates.

And Bayern Munich and Manchester City had emerged as two possible destinations where the Chilean could land up next season. Sanchez who currently has twelve months left on his current contract at Arsenal has reportedly refused to sign a new deal at the club. This would mean that Arsene Wenger might have to let go of the 28-year-old for a free transfer next season.

Alexis Sanchez has only 12 months left on his current contract at Arsenal.

Owing to this, it looked as if Arsenal had no other option but to sell the player this summer. But now according to a report in Chilean paper La Tercera, Sanchez is not going to leave Arsenal. According to the paper, Sanchez is going to stay back at the club and honour his contract.

But this news is nothing short of a dual edged sword for the club. While staying back at Arsenal will definitely be a short-term victory for Wenger. But if the Chilean does not sign a new contract then Arsenal will lose the player next season on a free transfer.

Sanchez

Sanchez recently told SkySports after a Confederation Cup match that he had no idea where his will be playing next season. And now this report in the Chilean paper has added fuel to the already blazing fire.

This news will certainly send a few ripples down Manchester City as their manager was very keen in reuniting with his Ex-Barcelona player. As the transfer window moved forward Guardiola was growing increasingly confident of bringing Sanchez to Man City. And with Bayern supposedly pulling out of the race Man City were virtually running a one-man race.

But City have been hit with a series of bad news in the past two weeks. Firstly it was reported that Bayern had renewed their interests in Sanchez after their manager had expressed his desire to sign the Chilean. And now this report of Sanchez staying back in London has done nothing to help Guardiola’s cause.

Sanchez has gone out on a holiday after playing in the Confederations Cup final against Germany. And his decision will only be known once he returns back to Arsenal. Or maybe elsewhere?
