Arsenal are set to receive a huge transfer boost after recent reports suggest that Manchester City will not be pursuing Alexis Sanchez during the January transfer window.

The news states that Manchester City have not been pleased with the way Arsenal handled the whole transfer deal during the summer. At first, the Gunners had agreed to a £60 million bid for the Chilean but backed out at the very last moment when they themselves could not acquire the services of Thomas Lemar from Monaco.

Now the City owners have decided that they will not spend a dime on the player and will not approach Arsenal even if they give Sanchez on a cut price of £20 million. The playmaker is out of contract at the end of the current season and City are very much confident that Sanchez wants to reunite with Pep Guardiola when he becomes a free agent.

So the Blue half of Manchester have decided to put the weights on Arsenal’s shoulders by trying to grab the player for free. Pep Guardiola’s side are now cruising in the league and they are sitting pretty at the top of the table. Thus Guardiola clearly sees no need of Sanchez just right now. He would rather take him for free next time around rather than pay £20 million for the same player in January.

Having said that though, this will come as a blessing in disguise for Wenger and his team. Arsenal’s biggest aim of the current season is and will be to get back that coveted Champions League spot. And the French boss would require all of his star players to perform at their peak in order to achieve that dream.
