Alexis Sanchez returned to training with Arsenal on Tuesday after an extended break due to his involvements in the Confederations Cup. And the Arsenal boss was once again asked whether the Chilean will be staying at the club – more so when he has not signed a new deal.

But Wenger similar to his previous stance once again said that Sanchez will stay with the Gooners for the upcoming season. He also said that the club are trying to make Sanchez bind into a new contract but then refused to shed any more light on that subject.

Wenger said, “I will not give anything away on (Sanchez) but the only thing I can tell you is that he is focused, and my decision is clear: he will stay and he will respect that. It is as simple as that,”

“Every negotiation has to be a little bit secret. The transparency of society is very pushy but we have to resist a little bit, as much as we can.

“We know as well we have a duty to inform people, but to talk about some things is not information any more – it is suicide.

“I think he will be here this season, and if we can do it for more seasons we will do it as well.

“The frame of mind of a football player is quite easy. Once you go out and play, you focus on the game and you enjoy it.

“This is a thing that passes quickly, so enjoy every single moment – and he loves the game so much, and what he does.”

Sanchez is not the only player whose current contract expires within the next 12 months. The likes of Mesut Ozil, Kieran Gibbs, and Jack Wilshere are also sailing on the same boat. And Wenger said in a recent interview that this is going to be the trend for the future where a player deliberately runs out his contract in order to move out to a new club.
