Antonio Conte and his men will return their focus to Group C in the Champions League again this week as they prepare for what is arguably their toughest test in the group, an away game against recent two-time finalists Atletico Madrid.

The Blues will see a familiar face when they visit the newly opened Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in the form of striker Diego Costa.

The Diego Costa transfer saga has overshadowed much of Chelsea’s build-up to this season’s campaign, but that appears to be nearing an end after the Blues agreed on a deal with Atletico in midweek.

His presence will be the talking point pre-match, but as kick-off arrives on Wednesday, attention will soon turn to a battle between two serious contenders for the crown.

Here is the expected line-up for the Blues during the Atletico Madrid vs Chelsea match:

Goalkeeper:

Thibaut Courtois – The Belgian will face his former club despite suffering a nasty fall against Stoke City.

Defence:

Cesar Azpilicueta – The Spaniard has been one of Chelsea’s best players this campaign so far and is expected to continue in his task to keep Atletico’s attackers at bay.

David Luiz – The Brazilian has missed the last two games for Chelsea due to a suspension but in Europe, he is still eligible to play.

Gary Cahill – The Captain’s experience could be a vital aspect of this game for the Blues. He will be expected to return to the line-up at the expense of the impressive Antonio Rudiger.

Midfield:

Davide Zappacosta – The full-back shone brightly on his Champions League debut but will he be able to deal with the likes of Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco?

Tiemoue Bakayoko – The big Frenchman will be important as Chelsea will look to match Atletico’s strength in midfield.

N’Golo Kante – Omnipresent as always and will look to take control of the proceedings in Midfield. Biggest game of his career so far.

Cesc Fabregas – His creativity and vision are second to none and he will hope to get past the dogged Atletico defence.

Marcos Alonso – The Spaniard will have to beware of Los Rojiblancos’ wing play and will have to cut down on his attacking forays forward.

Attack:

Eden Hazard – The Belgian is up and running finally and will look to create chances as he looks to break past a strong Atletico backline.

Alvaro Morata – The Hat-trick at the weekend surely must have boosted his confidence and what better time than before facing his former derby rivals. With Hazard back, his chances will also increase and he must be licking his lips at the prospect.

The Blues are expected to set-up in a 3-5-2 as they look to counter the strong Atletico Midfield.
