Barcelona look all set to sign up Marco Verratti after the Italian has told PSG that he wants to leave in the summer.

Verratti wants to join a club in Europe that gives him a fighting chance to win the Champions League. And Barcelona looks to be his next destination. The 24-year-old still has a couple of years left on his contract but he will not likely see it out. He feels that PSG do not have the firepower to compete with the giants of European football.

Verratti’s agent met with the PSG management earlier this week to let them know that his client wants to leave the club. His agent also made it clear that the decision had nothing to do with money but rather Verratti’s ambition to win the Champions League. And he feels that staying at PSG will not turn his dream into a reality.

PSG are desperate to keep him at the club though and have made it clear in the past that Verratti is not for sale. But now the Italian’s desire to leave the club turns the game on its head. Barcelona have been a long admirer of Verratti and his talents. And now Barcelona look to be in the driving seat after Verratti’s decision.

According to reports, Barcelona are willing to pay as much as €100 million for the talented midfielder. And given the circumstances, Barcelona will now go all out to sign Verratti to Spain.
