Barcelona staged a terrific comeback against Eibar to win the match 4-2. But ultimately it was not enough as Real Madrid beat them to the title.

Barcelona trailed at the Nou Camp after Eibar’s Inui struck two fantastic volleys to give the visitors a two-goal lead. But Barcelona staged a wonderful comeback to eventually win the match 4-2.

Barcelona were given a lift after Junca scored an own goal as he bundled the ball into the back of his own net. Then it was Luis Suarez who equalised for the home team in the 73rd minute of the match.

After the equaliser, it was Lionel Messi who took centre stage. He scored a penalty in the 75th minute and then finished it off with a brilliant solo run deep into the second half injury time.

But all this effort went in vain as Barcelona finished the season second on the league table. They needed Real Madrid to slip up against Malaga in order to win the title. But Madrid won their match against Malaga handsomely at 2-0.

Mixed bag for Messi:

Lionel Messi had a very mixed evening as far as his performance was concerned. He scored two goals on the night and the second one especially was a touch of class from the Argentine. He weaved and glided past a bunch of Eibar defenders to eventually put the ball into the back of the net.

But having said that Messi also missed a host of chances to score. In the second half, he missed an absolute sitter. He tapped the ball wide of the goal when he virtually had an open net to aim at.

Shortly after that Messi missed again. This time from the penalty spot. But most of the credit should go to the Eibar shot-stopper who did brilliantly to deny the Argentine. But as per his standards, Messi should have had four goals on the night.

Barcelona’s farewell to Enrique:

Luis Enrique took his seat in the dugout for the final time as Nou Camp gave him a fitting farewell. Even though Barcelona are set to play another match next weekend but this will be the last time that Enrique will be managing the Catalans at their home ground.

The crowd celebrated his final game in charge with cheers and hoardings decorated all over the stadium.

While Enqirue will effectively leave the hot seat after the season, but he promised the crowd that he will come back as a member to enjoy the games.

Barcelona have not yet announced the successor to Enrique, but after the game, Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu said that they will announce the new coach on Monday the 29th.
