Mesut Ozil’s contract with Arsenal runs out at the end of the current season and by the looks of it, the German is not going to sign a new deal at the club. As a result of this situation, Arsene Wenger now wants to get rid of the player in January and earn some money over his transfer rather than lose him for free next summer.

And Barcelona are amongst a long list of teams who are interested in signing the World Cup-winning playmaker. As per a report in the Don Balon, Barcelona are desperate to land Mesut Ozil and are now willing to offer André Gomes as part of a swap deal.

So what happens to the Coutinho deal then?

Well, the news is that Barcelona are now having second thoughts over the Coutinho transfer simply because the Brazilian will set back the club by a whopping £130 million whereas the soon to be free agent Mesut Ozil will only cost somewhere in the region of £20 million.

The management at the Nou Camp now feels that going for Mesut Ozil will be a smarter option rather than back some ridiculous amount of money for Coutinho. Barcelona feel that if they throw in Gomez into the mix then Arsenal might not be able to refuse the offer at all.
