Chelsea have already signed Alvaro Morata as their main front man for the season. But the unavailability of Diego Costa has seen Conte fall short of options up front. As a result of which it was reported that Chelsea were out in the market looking for a new striker.

And in the hunt for Morata’s partners, it looks as if the Italian boss has settled in for Swansea’s Fernando Llorente. We had earlier reported how Antonio Conte wanted the ex-Juventus striker to partner Alvaro Morata and also be a mentor of sorts to him.

And now the latest news from England is that Chelsea are agonisingly close to signing Swansea’s Fernando Llorente.

We had also reported that Chelsea had once shown an interest in Llorente in the first half of the summer but that deal did not materialize mainly due to the high prices being demanded by Swansea. Now it looks as if Swansea manager Paul Clement has given the green signal to the transfer after the Welsh outfit is on the brink of bringing back Wilfried Bony to the Liberty Stadium.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has convinced the board to make an offer for Llorente and the bid is most likely to be in the region of £14 million.

Fernando Llorente made 35 appearances for Swansea last season and managed to score 15 goals.
