Chelsea are close to selling off their goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid – according to transfer guru Guillem Balague.

Thibaut Courtois is currently one of the best keepers in world football and Real Madrid have been chasing him for quite a long time. The Los Blancos wanted to sign the Belgian No 1 a couple of seasons back but Chelsea held onto their prized possession at that point in time. But now as per Balague, it’s only a matter of time before Courtois makes the switch from London to Madrid.

Reports had it that Real Madrid were looking at Athletic Bilbao keeper Kepa as an alternative to their long-standing interest in David De Gea – which effectively meant that they will not be going after Courtois any longer. But Balague now states that Real Madrid want to sign two keepers. According to him, Zidane will sign Kepa in January and then sign Thibaut Courtois at the end of the season.

“But Real Madrid quite clearly want two goalkeepers for next season,” Balague said(as reported by the Express)

“They want Kepa for now, if possible, and it will be €20million and they want Courtois for next season.

“Courtois knows that I think he will like to go back. I’ve got an impression that I think Chelsea will make a deal now, for next season.

“So Kepa and Courtois is what Real Madrid want to have as goalkeepers next season. Navas knows that.”

This bit of news is sure to dent Chelsea’s plans a little bit as the Blues were planning to offer a new contract to Thibaut Courtois sometime during this month.
