Danny Drinkwater’s move to Chelsea might not be that close to happen after all it has appeared. The Leicester midfielder is in dark over his future as The Blues have not yet returned back with a second bid after Leicester rejected a £15 million bid for him.

According to reports, Champions Chelsea have not yet returned with a second bid. Leicester rejected the initial £15 million move as they believe the bid was too low given today’s market. Leicester believe that the 27-year-old is worth upwardly of £30 million which is well above the bid tabled by Chelsea.

It is understood that Drinkwater is interested in talks of a move to Chelsea, however, a concrete returning bid has not been received yet as Conte continues to pursue multiple targets to shore up the midfield.

The Blues have shown interest in signing Ross Barkley from Everton for a fee in the range of £30 million. They are also monitoring the situation of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Both the players have just a year left on their contracts.

Other than these it is also being reported that Antonio Conte is targeting Barcelona starlet Sergi Roberto. Reports in Spain suggest that both Manchester United and Chelsea have bid for the youngster somewhere in the region of £30million.Conte pursuing him only makes sense as he has repeatedly shown desire to strengthen midfield and wing-back positions. Roberto can, of course, play equally well in both of those positions and will be a great signing for Chelsea if they can pull it off. The hero of the fairy tale PSG comeback is nonetheless said not to be keen on a move elsewhere and prefers to ply his trade in Spain.

Chelsea have suffered multiple setbacks this summer in the transfer market but they will still look to sign at least 3 more players before the window slams shut.

After the departure of Nemanja Matic to Manchester United, Loftus Cheek to Crystal Palace and Nathaniel Chalobah to Watford, Conte has allowed Lewis Baker to leave on loan to Championship side Middlesbrough which aggravates the need for centre midfield backup. Conte has just Cesc Fabregas and N’Golo Kante to call upon at the start of the season as new signing Tiemoue Bakayoko is still recovering from a knee injury sustained towards the end of the last season at AS Monaco.

Chelsea face Burnley looking really thin on paper with just 13 fit senior first team players and the fans will be hoping that Michael Emenalo and Marina Granovskaia get their targeted signings in quickly.
