Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has given an update on N’Golo Kante’s injury and it is not at all pretty. Conte has said that the Frenchman does not have a good chance of playing against Manchester United on Sunday.
The Blues will be heading into this match at the back of a humiliating defeat at the hands of Roma. And the last thing that Conte would want is to play Fabregas and Bakayoko in midfield once again. The pair just do not have the capacity of breaking down teams and most importantly defending against threats.
Kante has been missing from action since the hamstring injury he picked up against Bulgaria in the international duty and from what Conte said it seems like he will be an absentee during the United game too.
Talking to the Italian media, Conte said, “After an important muscular problem, it would be stupid to risk it, so when Kante feels at 100 percent, he will return to playing,
“About N’Golo Kante, Kante has trained with us. He trained also before the game against Bournemouth. I think it’s very important, in this moment, to speak with the player and then see his sensation.
“I was a player and you know very well that, after an injury, above all a muscular problem – a bad injury – it’s very important to listen to the player and what are his sensations and then make the best decision for him, for the team. For sure, tomorrow, we’ll try and make the best decision.”
This bit of news will be a great positive for Manchester United who come into this match on the back of two great wins vs Tottenham Hotspur and against Benfica in midweek.
