According to reports, Manchester City, Chelsea and PSG have intensified their interest for Juventus’ Alex Sandro.

Why all the fuss?

To put it very simply, Alex Sandro is one of the best left-backs in European football right now. His only competition to the thrown is probably Benjamin Mendy of Manchester City. The Brazilian International joined Juve back in 2015 from Porto and in these two seasons, he has made over 75 appearances for the Old Lady.

In the 2016-17 season, Sandro has made 27 league appearances and 11 European appearances while scoring 3 goals in the process. But Sandro’s real talent does not lie in the amount of goals that he scores but rather in his versatility. The 26-year-old is primarily a left-back but can easily fit into a role of a left-wing back – an asset that the likes of Chelsea, Man City and PSG are trying to utilise.

The Chelsea interest:

For quite some time now it was being reported that Chelsea were the lone team that really wanted to sign the Brazilian and were under no pressure whatsoever. But now news is coming in that both Manchester City as well as PSG have shown a keen interest in the player.

Chelsea have already made a bid of about £50 million for the Juve left-back but it was turned down by the Turin outfit. But some sources reveal that Chelsea are in the process of preparing another bid. Well, if Man City and PSG have joined the battle, then Chelsea’s next bid should be a bit on the higher side.

Does Manchester City need Sandro?

Pep Guardiola has already signed Benjamin Mendy from AS Monaco and many will feel that there is no need to splurge on another left-back. But if you look into the City squad a bit deeply then you will realise that apart from Mendy, Guardiola does not have another recognised left-back. So Alex Sandro will be a perfect buy for the Citizens.

But given the fact that City already have a world class left-back amongst their ranks, Sandro will know very well that a regular first team start will be far from guaranteed. So the Brazilian will surely think twice before joining the blue half of Manchester.
