During the summer transfer window, Philippe Coutinho tried every trick in the book to secure his dream move to Barcelona but Liverpool kept blocking the transfer to a point where the market closed down.

But Barcelona’s interest in the Brazilian is far from over and the Catalans have a January bid ready for the player. And Chelsea midfielder and former Catalan, Cesc Fabregas has backed Coutinho to secure his move to the Camp Nou.

While speaking to Catalan TV TV3(as reported by the Daily Star), Fabregas said, “I think he’s a great player.

“I see Barca’s style, the truth is that it has the level… From where I see it, he is more comfortable inside, but the good thing about this player is that he can play in various positions.

“Being versatile is also important.”

Coutinho scored his first hat-trick for the club yesterday when Liverpool thrashed Spartak Moscow 7-0. But after the match got over several reports have emerged that Barcelona have agreed a high profile deal with the Brazilian and the transfer could be completed in January.
