After much speculation and delay, it looks as if Diego Costa’s dream of returning back to Atletico Madrid is finally going to be successful.

According to Marca, both Chelsea and Atletico have agreed upon a fee for the transfer and the deal is set to be completed pretty soon. As per the report, the Spanish outfit have agreed to pay somewhere in the region of €65 million euros out which €55 million will be an upfront payment and the rest will be in the form of bonuses.

The 28-year-old is expected to sign a deal with Atletico that would run up to 2021 and he is also supposed to be present at the club’s game against Sevilla this weekend. Costa will also join training with the Atletico Madrid squad with immediate effect but he will be eligible to play only in January.

Atletico Madrid sold the striker to Chelsea back in 2014 for a fee of £32 million. And now with the return deal almost done, Diego Costa looks all set to become the most expensive player in the history of Atletico Madrid.

And as Costa leaves, the Chelsea fans will certainly have mixed reactions about the player. While the player’s stay at the club was marred by off-field antics and indiscipline, he did manage to win two Premier League titles in three seasons. But ever since the previous season ended, the striker has been on the sidelines itching to move back to Atletico Madrid. There were various times that he was close to returning back to Spain but each the time the two concerned teams failed to reach an agreement over the transfer price.

But for a couple of weeks, it looked as if the deal was finally going to be completed as Costa moved his family back to Spain and was even looking to sell his cars in London.
