It looks like Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is all set to return back to Italy after the close of the current season. According to the Sunday Times, the Italian will not sign a new contract with the Blues as he wants to move back to his home.

And this bit of news has set the ball rolling in Italy as many Serie A sides are planning to sign the 48-year-old. It looks as if Conte wanted to move back to Italy this summer itself but then he resisted the move owing to the high penalty clause in his current contract which runs out in 2019. The Chelsea boss though has repeatedly refused to extend his current deal agreeing only to a pay rise and not a commitment extension with the club.

Conte was pleasantly unhappy with a lot of things that were going around in the club during the summer. Firstly he seemed displeased with the transactions that the clubs had carried out in the transfer window and add to that the inaccessibility to club owner Roman Abramovich.

But now the former Juventus boss is adamant on the fact that he wants to return back to Italy and in a recent interview with an Italian Radio, Conte said, “I miss Italy, that’s beyond doubt, so once I have had some important and life-changing experiences, I will be back.”

Now, this poses a bit of a headache for the Stamford Bridge outfit as they have to replace the Italian with someone of the same stature. And as things stand there are a very few top class coaches that are currently available in the market. Former Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel is a free agent nowadays but it looks like he is set to join Bayern Munich. Recently sacked Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti is also available in the market and this former Chelsea manager might just be the safest bet for Abramovich and his club. While a few clubs are eying the three-time Champions League winning manager but a few reports suggest that the Italian will spend the rest of the season away from football. So this just might be the perfect opportunity for Chelsea to persuade him to return back for a second stint.
