Chelsea are tracking Romanian teenage ace Florinel Coman as per latest reports.

The youngster plays for Romanian heavyweights Steaua Bucharest. Technical director Michael Emenalo flew to Romania last week to watch the 19-year-old in Steaua’s 1-0 win over city rivals Dinamo.

Coman is a pacy player who prefers playing from the left-wing but is versatile and equally adept leading the frontline.

The winger has a £88m release clause and is highly rated by his viewers.

Steaua only signed him in August from Viitorul Constanta for £2million despite strong interest from Benfica.

However, Steaua’s controversial owner Gigi Becali is reputed to have inserted a £88m release clause in Coman’s contract as they regard him to be at the same level as Kylian Mbappe.

Steaua currently boasts of a lot of young talents at their disposal. Dennis Man, Florin Tanase, and Dragos Nedelcu are all highly rated by Coman is considered to be the most talented of the crop.

Coman was born in the city of Braila, Braila County, and grew up as a Dinamo Bucharest supporter.

Being promoted from Viitorul Constanta’s academy by first-team manager and Romanian Legend Gheorghe Hagi, Coman made his professional debut coming on as a substitute in a Liga I match against Astra Giurgiu on 18 April 2015.

On 14 August 2016, aged 18, he scored his first goal in a 3–1 league victory over ASA Târgu Mureș.

Coman was the Liga I Player of the Month for February 2017 after scoring one each against Dinamo București, Pandurii Târgu Jiu, and ACS Poli Timișoara respectively. He was once again on the scoresheet on 18 March, after netting the opener in a 3–1 home win against Steaua București. On 13 May, Coman obtained the penalty from which his team scored the only goal of the last fixture against CFR Cluj, thus aiding Viitorul in winning its first-ever national title.

After Portuguese club Benfica showed interest in acquiring Coman, he moved to Steaua Bucharest on 21 August 2017 for a reported £2 million plus £500,000 in add-ons. His release clause was set at a Romanian record of £88million, with former club Viitorul Constanța being entitled to 20% of a future transfer fee.

He has appeared for a total of 6 appearances so far for the club in all competitions but is yet to open his account in the Steaua kit.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have offered a contract worth £300,000 a week to the current holder of the left-wing position, Eden Hazard and expect him to stay but are wary of the continued interest from Real Madrid in their talented Belgian winger.
