Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has confirmed in his pre-match press conference that defender David Luiz will not be available for the weekend clash against Newcastle. The out of favour Brazilian defender is recovering from a knee injury and will miss Saturday’s Premier League clash.

Conte has also revealed that Charly Musonda has also been ruled out for the weekend after missing the midweek clash due to a knee injury.

But a major boost for Conte will definitely be the return of Michy Batshuayi. The Belgian striker was out with an injury but Conte has confirmed that Batshuayi has returned to training this week and is in line to face Newcastle on Saturday.

This final bit of news comes a great respite for the Italian manager as he will finally have a back-up to his first choice striker Alvaro Morata. But a big headache will definitely be in the defensive department where Conte has very limited options. The absence of David Luiz means that the manager will be able to rest only one of his three defenders who took the pitch during midweek.
