Chelsea are set to reward Andreas Christensen with a new contract after his fine start to the current season.

The 21-year-old spent the past two seasons out on loan to German side Borussia Monchengladbach but this season he has returned back to the Premier League and has been a regular starter under Antonio Conte.

Thanks to the unavailability of David Luiz owing to various reason, Christensen has started 14 Premier League games this season and Chelsea have now decided to bind him to a new contract. Even though his current deal at Stamford Bridge runs out in 2020 but as per the Evening Standard the Danish centre-back currently receives just £35,000 a week in the form of wages. And the Blues want to give his a substantial pay-rise.

The report suggests that Chelsea have already opened talks with the 21-year-old and he is expected to put pen to paper very soon.
