Despite already spending more than £130m already this summer, Chelsea have been left somewhat frustrated with their transfer market activity.

Antonio Conte has repeatedly made public of his desire to get more quality and depth in the squad. Chelsea kick-off their season against Burnley with just 14 senior first team members and it only makes sense for Conte to be worried about their title defence with such a threadbare squad at his disposal.

Chelsea have been in the hunt for Juventus’ marauding left wing-back, Alex Sandro. But despite tabling multiple offers which would even make the Brazilian the most expensive defender ever, Juventus seem determined to hold on their man, especially after the sale of stalwart Leonardo Bonucci.

Other targets have been difficult to nail down as Chelsea seem to get desperate to get the right man, especially after a poor pre-season and the defeat to Arsenal in Sunday’s Community Shield.

According to the latest reports, Chelsea have turned their attention to yet another Monaco player. Djibril Sidibe was instrumental in Monaco’s stellar season having been an integral part of the Ligue 1 Champions and Champions League Semi-finalists.

Chelsea have already raided Monaco once this summer splurging £40m on midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko. Monaco have also seen Benjamin Mendy and Bernardo Silva move to Manchester City for a combined £95m and the futures of Kylian Mbappe and Thomas Lemar remain highly speculated about.

Djibril Sidibe is the latest Monaco star to attract Europe’s topmost clubs. Monaco are currently looking to sign Jordan Amavi from Aston Villa. Should they beat Fiorentina and Marseille to his signature, they are said to be more open to talks for Sidibe. The Ligue 1 champions also hope that coveted star Fabinho stays as he can provide cover at right-back.

The 25-year-old Frenchman who as per reports turned down an Arsenal move last summer is under contract till 2022.

The French champions will most likely ask a for the price in the range of that of Mendy to Man City but Chelsea have the funds available.

Sidibe has made 10 appearances for the national team and featured a whopping 47 times in the last season. He boasts of an impressive attacking return with 3 goals and 8 assists for the Stade Louis II side.

Sidibe split his time on the left and right flanks last year which could make him an extremely important signing for the Blues as he can Replace Victor Moses on the right and provide cover for Marcos Alonso.

However, his contract puts Monaco in a strong position to reject any offers for the full-back or even increase the demanding price if they wish to.
