Chelsea won their Premier League game against Middlesbrough in empathic fashion. They beat Middlesbrough 3-0 on the night. The Blues saw goals from Costa, Alonso and Matic to secure the win.

Antonio Conte did not pull up any major surprises as far as the team line-up was concerned. But one surprise inclusion was definitely David Luiz who returned back from injury in time to take his place in central defence. Conte decided to stick with the familiar front trio of Hazard, Pedro and Costa.

Chelsea took the lead in the 23rd minute of the match through Diego Costa. Fabregas provided the assist as Diego Costa slotted the ball into the back of the net through the legs of Guzan.

Chelsea got their second for the night in the 35th minute. This time it was Alonso who puts his name onto the scoresheet. Much like the previous goal, this time also Boro found themselves on the unlucky side after the ball bounced off Guzan’s legs and into the back of the net.

The third goal for Chelsea came just after the hour mark and this time it was Matic who controlled the ball with his chest to slot the ball into the net, underneath Guzan. It was Fabregas again who clocked up the assist.

Fabre’class’ all throughout the match:

Chelsea were without the services of Frenchman N’Golo Kante. This meant that Fabregas had to step in and fill up for the midfielder. And to put it very simply Fabregas played a master class. The Spaniard had a brilliant game for Chelsea as he clocked up two assists on the night for the Blues. But despite putting out such a wonderful performance, Fabregas might opt to leave Chelsea in the summer so that he could have some more first team football. And with the amount of talent that he possesses, there will be a lot of teams willing to get his signature.

The win against Boro means that Chelsea now need just three points from their last three games of the season. They can wrap up the title challenge with a win over West Brom next week.

Boro step down the ladder:

Middlesbrough, on the other hand, had some rather contrasting emotions after the final whistle. They now stand relegated after just one season in first flight football. And they will play their next campaign in the second division of English football.
