It looks like Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is eager to level out the score with Manchester United after the Red Devils pulled Romelu Lukaku from right under their noses.

Jose Mourinho has already made a few high profile signings this summer and as of now, he wants a new defensive midfielder. Initially, it was Eric Dier who was thought to be the first priority for the Portuguese manager. But the deal looks to have hit a road block after Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has rejected several bids for the player repeating the exact same thing every single time, “The player is not for sale.”

Now as per reports, Mourinho and Man Utd have shifted their focus back to Nemanja Matic. The red half of Manchester are ready to offer Chelsea £35m for Matic, but Abramovich is not willing to take anything less than £50 million for the Serbian.

As per the report, Matic is keen to reunite with his old boss at Manchester United. Chelsea have already received interest from Italian giants Juventus but the Blues are willing to sell the player off to United if Ed Woodward is ready to shell out £50 million.

The Football Fan Base view:

£50 million for Nemanja Matic is way too high but it looks like the Chelsea owner is whining over the fact that United beat them to Romelu Lukaku.

And as the report suggests, the Chelsea might just be adding a “Lukaku tax” on the Matic deal.
