According to The Telegraph, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has made it very clear that Chelsea would have to pay him more if they intend him to stay at Stamford Bridge in the next season.

The Italian has been heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan in the summer. As per the reports, Inter are willing to pay him somewhere around 12.5 million pounds a year. This is almost double the amount that Conte currently receives at Chelsea.

But Conte firmly believes that he has proved his potential in order to be eligible for a pay rise. The Italian’s family has yet to move to England and this has been a bit of a concern for him. His family was scheduled to visit him during the Christmas break but somehow that did not materialise.

Conte said “The money is important only at this level to give the real value of a player or the coach, if you show you deserve it, you have earned the money. I think this.”

The 47-year-old has been a revelation for Chelsea this season. He has managed to bring back Chelsea to the top level and has also given the Blues their fifth title. And this might be enough reason for Chelsea boss Roman Abramovich to give the Italian a hike.

Abramovich will be desperate to keep Conte for the next season. And increasing his salary might be the only way to persuade the Italian to stay at Stamford Bridge. A pay rise will also be necessary because Chelsea are going be back in the Champions League next season. And that is going to be a different ball game altogether.
