Chelsea and their out of favour striker Diego Costa have had a roller coaster few months. From Antonio Conte telling Costa to leave via a text message to the Spaniard refusing to return back to training – the Blues fans have seen at all.
As a result of this stand off, Diego Costa was desperate to make a move back to his former club Atletico Madrid during the summer. But that deal crumbled on the final day of the transfer window due to a few complications. But news suggests that Atletico will return back with a new bid in January once their current transfer ban is lifted.
But Chelsea claim that they will not cave into Costa’s rebellion and want the striker to return back to training. The Blues have also threatened to sue the Spaniard for a breach of contract.
So Atletico Madrid now understand that if they stand any chance of bringing back Costa to Spain then it will only be possible by Costa making peace with the Chelsea management. And the Spanish outfit has conveyed this message to the striker.
Now as per the latest news, Costa is willing to make a truce with Chelsea and he is willing to return back to training. But it is highly unlikely that he will be welcome back to the Cobham. Costa was initially thinking of suing Chelsea but now after having a chat with Atletico Madrid, it looks as if he has changed his mind.
A source close to Costa said last night: “I guess there will have to be a reconciliation between Diego and the club.
“I think he will have to come back because he does not want his career to end there, like this.
“Diego has no grounds to sue Chelsea. Chelsea do have grounds to sue Diego now.”
Legal advisers have also claimed that after looking into Diego Costa’s case they have come to the conclusion that the case would be very weak – another reason why Diego has planned to drop the idea.
Chelsea have named the Spaniard in their 25 man squad for the Premier League but it does not seem like Costa will be playing for the Blues anymore. Even if he decides to mend all fences.
