Diego Costa returns to Chelsea training: Rekindled hopes or just a cover up?

Chelsea outcast Diego Costa returns to Chelsea training in London according to Spanish outlet Marca.

The outcast who has spent the last two months in Brazil has joined Chelsea’s training camp. But this has nothing to do with him wearing a Chelsea shirt again. He has reported back to the Cobham simply because he wants to speed up the process of his transfer to Atletico Madrid.

Ever since Antonio Conte has told the 28-year-old that he needs to find a new club, Costa has been itching to get back to Spain in order to rejoin Atletico Madrid. But owing to the transfer embargo on the Los Rojiblancos the move is proving to be quiet difficult.

Atletico tried signing the player on deadline day and then immediately loan him out to another club – but that did not materialize. And this was mainly due to Chelsea’s stubbornness of not letting Costa go for a cheap transfer fee.

Diego Costa had refused to return back to training a few weeks back and the Chelsea board has been thinking of suing the player for a breach of contract. Now Atletico have come to realize the fact that if they wish to sign Diego Costa in January then the Spaniard will have to mend his ways. And the return back to training is possibly the first step towards that redemption.

Costa has been named in the 25 man Premier League squad by Antonio Conte but it is highly unlikely that he will play any part in Chelsea’s first team actions. At best he will be allowed on the training grounds so that he can remain fit.

And this is what basically Atletico Madrid want. They want Costa to remain as fit as possible before the January transfer window comes around.
