Should Fabregas Be Dropped And Other Questions That Need An Answer After The Bournemouth Game

Chelsea won 1-0 at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday and it was anything but a convincing win for the Blues. But Conte’s men did manage to come out with three points and that is all that will matter to the fans.

But after the 90 minutes, we do have a couple of questions that need to be answered

Should Fabregas be dropped?

Last season Fabregas was beaming with confidence in midfield and everyone kept on raving about how the Spaniard had once again found his old form. But the last couple of games have exposed him once again. And now we know for sure where the problem lies. Fabregas without N’Golo Kante is a pretty average midfielder. With Kante by his side, the Spaniard gains that extra amount of confidence that there is someone who will do all the hard work and hence is can sit back and work his magic. But with the Frenchman out injured, Fabregas is exposed to a point where he looks like a very ordinary player. So is it time for Conte to make a brave decision and drop Fabregas in order to give the partnership of Drinkwater and Kante a try in midfield?

Is Hazard finally back to his best?

Eden Hazard was without the shadow of a doubt the best player on the pitch for Chelsea. He was weaving past the Bournemouth defence like they were rolling pins just waiting to be knocked over. This is perhaps the best we have seen him play since his return from injury. Chelsea were unable to hit top gear during the game but Hazard made sure that his team went home with all the three points. While the likes of Morata, Willian and Pedro are very good players but Hazard – when fit, is in a league of his own.

Should Cahill be benched for the long run?

When the team sheet came in it was revealed that Conte had decided to go with his familiar three men defensive line but this time he slot in Ceaser Azpilicueta at the back in place of Cahill. And this proved to be a masterstroke. Chelsea’s defence for almost the whole game were more like contributing to the attack rather than defending against Bournemouth. Azpilicueta along with Luiz and Rudiger came out of the game with flying colours and Conte might just have found his permanent back three for the rest of the season.
