Antoine Griezmann was very close to moving to Manchester United this summer but the deal eventually collapsed after a transfer ban was imposed on Atletico Madrid. This ban meant that Diego Simeone would not be able to sign a new player till January next year and that is why Griezmann decided against a move to Manchester United.

But now according to a report, Atletico Madrid have admitted that it will be pretty tough to hold onto Griezmann next summer. The Frenchman has a release clause of £89 million and the La Liga side have admitted that Manchester United will get their man once the current season comes to an end.

But Simeone and his management are not sitting with folded hands as it is also being reported that Atletico are lining up a bid for PSG’s Edinson Cavani as a replacement to Antoine Griezmann. Edison Cavani had a bit of an agruement with new PSG sigining Neymar and Atletico want to cash in into this rift of sorts and bring the Uruguayan to Spain.

But Atletico Madrid are sure to face some stiff competition from Premier League side Chelsea who are also eyeing Cavani as a potential partner to Alvaro Morata next season. Chelsea are very thin in the striker’s department and Conte wants to make a big profile signing next summer, whereas Simeone is sure that he is going to lose Griezmann to Manchester United as a result of which he is already searching for an ideal partner to Diego Costa.
