Pep had his first trophy-less season of his professional career in the last season. Life in English football has not been kindest to him as he struggled to find ways to create the same kind of dominance that he did in Spain with Barcelona and later in Germany with Bayern Munich.

Pep spent big and early as he signed Kyle Walker, Danilo, Benjamin Mendy to strengthen the full back areas, Ederson as the new keeper and Monaco’s player of the season Bernardo Silva.

City look like they have a very strong squad to compete in four competitions and Pep will be happy with his squad. Although, he did miss out on his final two targets Alexis Sanchez and Jonny Evans. The former would have made a world of a difference but City left it too late to snap up the Chilean.

Pep has got cover for almost every position and now and the squad depth is immense at the Etihad.

For goalkeeper, he has Ederson covered with last season’s signing Claudio Bravo.

He has 3 fullbacks in Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy, and Danilo with the latter providing cover as he can play comfortably on both flanks.

For centre backs, he has Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi along with Englishman John Stones. Eliaquim Mangala is still at the club and will look to get his chances in cup games along with young Tosin Adarabioyo.

In central midfield, Pep has a flurry of options to call upon. Ilkay Gundogan, Yaya Toure, Fernandinho. Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva are currently playing centrally too for City. Young Phil Foden also could be given chances after impressing in preseason. Fabian Delph also believes he can fight for a spot and has stayed with the Club despite multiple offers.

Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane, and Bernardo Silva are the available wingers. Brahim Diaz will also push for a place as he looks to stay back at the Etihad and fight for his place.

The forward area looks bright as well with Gabriel Jesus and City’s record goal scorer Sergio Aguero available to call upon.

With such a strong and complete squad, City will surely push for the title under Guardiola’s guidance. Missing out on Alexis Sanchez could possibly hurt them as their lack of clinical finishing in front of goal was a major reason for concern for Pep last season. He will be hoping that the attack led by Gabriel Jesus will qualm any such concerns and guide Pep to his first title in England.
