Former Arsenal player and current football pundit has Ian Wright has outrightly questioned the signing of Tiemoue Bakayoko by Chelsea.

Bakoyoko was signed during the summer transfer window and was brought in by Antonio Conte as a replacement to Nemanja Matic who joined Manchester United before the start of the season. But a few months down the line and Bakayoko has proved to be anything but a replacement to the Serbian.

Now Ian Wright has questioned the role of the Frenchman and also blasted Chelsea for bringing in a player who adds absolutely nothing to the team.

“I don’t know what Bakayoko is,” Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“I don’t know what he is doing any more than if you play, Fabregas, further forward or Drinkwater further back.

“He doesn’t look like a midfielder that would break in and score like Alli and Lampard.”

Bakayoko’s start to his Blues career was not very good but he has been improving steadily with each passing game. His outing against Huddersfield during midweek was far more composed than his previous performances but it is nowhere near the level of either N’Golo Kante or Cesc Fabregas.

And to be very honest, Bakayoko is only getting a fair amount of game time because of the busy winter schedule. But once this pressure dies down with the Frenchman be anywhere near the starting XI?
