Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s farewell message to Man Utd

Man Utd manager Jose Mourinho signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic last summer after his contract with PSG had expired. And before the season started a lot of critics were apprehensive as to whether the Swede will be able to fit into the Premier League or not.

But as the season progressed Ibrahimovic proved all his critics wrong, like he has been doing for most of his career. But an unfortunate knee injury in the month of April cut his season short and the big man took no further part.

Zlatan had moved to United on a one-year contract and after his superb performances, everyone was confident that the club will surely offer him another year of contract extension. But those plans got a bit complicated once the 35-year-old got injured.

Even though United were apparently ready to offer him a new contract but Ibrahimovic declined it out of pride. The former PSG player did not want to get paid during the time of his rehabilitation.

And now that his contract with United has formally expired, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has a decided to thank all the fans for the overwhelming support. And Ibrahimovic’s farewell message to Man Utd fans was truly in his own unique style.

Ibrahimovic posted a photo on his official Instagram account with the message, “I came, I said, I conquered.”

I came. I said. I conquered.

Ibrahimovic played 28 Premier League games for Manchester United last season. And the 35-year-old managed to score 17 goals in those 28 games. He also won the Premier League Player of the Month award in December 2016. The first United player to do so in 15 months.

Man Utd might not have provided Zlatan with a new contract but the club have not abandoned him either. United have allowed their former player to train at their Carrington complex. In order to help his rehabilitation process. And reports say that the club is closely monitoring Zlatan’s situation and if he can get back into shape in time then United might just offer his a new short-term contract in January.

Even though that is a far fetched dream but United are surely grateful to the Swede for his contributions. And it looks like Ibrahimovic’s farewell message to Man Utd proves that the feeling is mutual.
