Italian legend Andrea Pirlo has decided to hang up his boots after the current MLS season comes to an end. The former Juventus player is currently under contract with MLS side New York City FC and he has decided to call it quits at the end of December – after the season ends.

But in his latest interview with La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Pirlo has dropped a huge hint that he might return back to football very quickly and this time he might reunite with former boss Antonio Conte. It is a rather well-known fact that Pirlo has always decided to go into coaching once he retires from playing football.

And it looks as if that time has come. In order to become a top-flight manager the first step that he will have to take is to gain some experience and it seems as if Chelsea boss Antonio Conte might just be his mentor.

Pirlo said, “You realise that the time has come,

“Every day you have physical problems, you are no longer able to train as you would like because you always have some problem.

“At my age, you have to say enough. It is not as if you can keep going till you are 50. I will do something else.

“My future, I don’t know yet. I will return to Italy in December. An assistant to Conte? People are saying that. I have my ideas but I need time to decide.”

Pirlo and Conte share quite a healthy relationship with each other as they have worked together during their time at Juventus. If Pirlo does decide to join Antonio Conte as is assistant at Chelsea then the Blues will be the most beneficial than anyone else.
