Liverpool have officially reached an agreement over the transfer of centre-back Virgil Van Dijk and the Dutch International will move to Anfield once the transfer window reopens on January 1st.

Liverpool are going to pay £75 million for the services of Van Dijk – making him the most expensive defender in the world. And this huge spending from Liverpool have certainly raised a lot of eyebrows from fans and pundits alike.

After the signing was announced by Liverpool, former Man United player Gary Neville was one of the first person’s to come out and support the huge transfer fee by saying that this is what is normal in today’s transfer scenario.

But Neville surely wanted the opinion of his fellow pundits as a result of which he tweeted out to Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher asking him about his thoughts on the transfer.

And Carragher gave a very sarcastic reply to Neville’s question:

Lindelof joined Manchester United from Benfica during the summer for a fee of £40 million but the Swede has not yet been able to win the trust of Jose Mourinho. He has been warming the benches for most of the season making appearances in Cup and European games only. Though he has seen a bit of game time during the past couple of weeks but that has mainly to with the fact that the likes of Valencia and Smalling have been ruled out with injuries.
