Jose Mourinho has this thing of giving away his medals at the end of the tournament to the fans. He has done it twice before in his managerial career – once in 2006 when he threw his Premier League’s winner medal into the crowd, and again in 2015 when he gave away his Community Shield’s winner’s medal after a win against Arsenal.

Now the Portuguese has repeated the act for a third time when he gave away his Super Cup runners-up medal to a kid in the crowd. He was seen walking towards the stand where he pointed to a kid who was wearing a black United jersey and when the kid responded, the United boss happily handed over his medal to him.

When Mourinho was asked as to why he did it, his answer had a bit of arrogance as well as humility. He said, “But I think for the kid it is something he will never forget. For me, medals – I repeat – when I win, they don’t mean much. Imagine when I lose!”

“For me, the medal would go to some place in my house and for that kid, it is the moon.

“For that kid, it is for sure something that he is going to keep and to remember

“It was a little kid with a Man United shirt – I have no idea where he comes from.”
