Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has hinted that Henrikh Mkhitaryan might return to the playing eleven when his team take on Bristol City during the EFL Cup tie on Wednesday.

Mkhitaryan started the current season in fine form and many fans felt that the Armenian was finally showing his worth at the club. But for the past one and a half months, the former Dortmund playmaker has not even started a game for the Red Devils.

And many feel that this has largely been due to a disagreement between the player and the manager after the loss to Chelsea at the beginning of November. Since then the only involvement of Mkhitaryan has been as a late substitute against Brighton.

Now though it seems that the midfielder might be recalled to the starting lineup after Mourinho indicated that he does want to make a couple of changes to his starting lineup during the Bristol City match.

While speaking to the reporters Mourinho said, “We need to take the game really seriously, but I’m going to make a few changes and it’s possible Miki [Mkhitaryan] is involved.

“In this moment we are playing with [Juan] Mata, [Jesse] Lingard, [Marcus] Rashford or [Anthony] Martial and [Romelu] Lukaku, and the bench has been Ibra [Zlatan Ibrahimovic] and one of the other ones – Martial or Rashford.

“There is no space for everybody because you need balance on the bench too.

“I am making a few changes for the match, not many, because Bristol is one of the best teams in the Championship and for me now the Championship is not the Championship of five or 10 years ago.”

Even though Mkhitaryan might finally get some game time but we doubt if he will stay a Manchester United player once the winter transfer window comes to a close. The United management seem to have set a price tag for the Armenian with Inter Milan reportedly interested in buying him at the start of the new year.
