A few months ago Manchester United player Juan Mata introduced the Common Goal Project to the world. In this project, he wanted to unite the footballing world by asking every player to contribute one percent of their annual salary towards the cause.

But so far the reactions from the footballing world has been very subdued. Mats Hummels was the first player to associate himself with the project and then he was followed by Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini. But a Premier League player is still to step forward and support this cause. The English Premier League pays the highest wages in the footballing world but Mata is yet to hear from his Premier League counterparts including his own teammates at Manchester United
