According to reports, both Liverpool and Chelsea have decided to lock horns in the battle to sign Werder Bremen striker Max Kruse.

Both Liverpool and Chelsea are looking to strengthen their attacking capabilities are they return to the Champions League next season. Liverpool have signed Mohamed Salah up front but Jurgen Klopp is also looking for a second choice striker as the games will come thick and fast next season. Chelsea on the other hand also have a very similar kind of problem as they only have one recognised striker amongst their ranks – Alvaro Morata, and that signing is yet to be completed.

As per the report, both the clubs are willing to bring in Kruse as a backup striker for the cup competitions.

The 29-year-old German has been valued by Bremen somewhere in the region of £16 million which both the clubs will be happy to pay – given the fact that Kruse scored 15 goals overall in the 23 appearances that he made last season.

The Football Fan Base view:

Kruse had a terrific last season with Werder Bremen as he scored 15 goals and along with that he made 7 assists. So £16 million seems to be quite a fair amount for the German International. And both Liverpool and Chelsea will possibly be attacking all fronts next season and they could do with an extra pair of legs in the attacking department.
